Here's the swivel knife that I'll be using to cut out the outline. There are a variety of blades available for swivel knives in different widths, angles and even materials. The background is a slab of granite that I use for leather work. A smooth surface that you can both hammer and cut on is good to have. If you don't have a handy stone slab you could use a piece of wood.
